  • In deciding which solar system is best for my home, how important are the following factors?

  • Provincial rebates will return ___% of the cost of your rooftop solar system to you.
Information on these rebates is available here.

  • Battery storage systems can store surplus electricity generated from your solar panels for later use, further reducing your energy bills. It can also store electricity from the grid at times when the cost is relatively inexpensive (e.g. in the middle of the night), for use at times when electricity is expensive (e.g. the middle of the day). Provincial incentives are also available for storage.

  • Toronto Residents Only

  • Low-interest financing is available through the City of Toronto’s Home Energy Loan Program (HELP). This program enables you to place the cost of a solar system (as well as options to install batteries and undertake other home retrofits) on your property tax bill, to be repaid for periods up to 15 years, as you reap the energy savings. This means that you can install solar with no money down, and still be eligible for the provincial rebates. If you move during the loan period, the new owner would continue to repay the loan through the property tax bill (and they would also reap the energy savings).

If possible, please upload photos of at least two electricity bills from the past year, including one from summer (June, July and/or August) and one from winter (December, January and/or February). This information is important to assess the size and specifications of your rooftop solar installation. Please include all pages of the bills.

  • This last part of the survey just takes less than two minutes. There is very little data available on who the typical rooftop solar customer is. If you could tell us a bit more about yourself, it would help us reach others who can benefit from rooftop solar systems. The information you provide will be used only for research purposes and in ways that will not in any way reveal who you are.
